Yes, Community Care is a registered charity and has held its “not-for-profit” status for more than 30 years.

Yes, however the donation will need to be documented and a receipt provided if you wish to claim a tax deduction.

To continue this invaluable work we need financial support from the community. You can find out options of how to give here.

Anyone is welcome to come to community care for assistance, however Emergency Relief assistance is only available to residents within our area of operations. You can view the Emergency Relief coverage area here . If we cannot assist you we will refer you on to other services that may be able to help.

Yes all client information and any information they share with Community Care is considered confidential. Our Privacy Policy states:

Privacy and Confidentiality Policy 

Rationale 

We believe that privacy and confidentiality are important to protect the rights of clients that use our community services. 

Aims and Objectives 

Access to information will only be obtained by authorised persons and, as negotiated with the client. 

To ensure the confidentiality of client records and information, in any format obtained, including but not limited to, written, verbal or digital information. 

To ensure that personal information gathered about staff and volunteers is kept confidential. 

Guidelines 

Under the Privacy Act agencies must take reasonable steps to protect the personal information of staff, volunteers and clients against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. 

Personal information in regard to staff, volunteers and clients must be collected for lawful purposes only. 

Individuals have the right to access their own personal information at a time convenient to the Manager and the client or volunteer. 

Personal information should not be disclosed to anyone unless: 

The person in question consents in writing to the disclosure of information; 

Doing so will prevent serious threat to someone’s life or health; or 

It is required and authorised by law. 

At no time is client business to be discussed in front of other clients or in a public situation. 

Referrals should not be made on a client’s behalf without the client’s knowledge. 

Computer records are to be kept confidential and are only to be accessed by authorised persons. 

Client records and all personal staff/volunteer information will be kept in a locked filing cabinet, separate from general administrative paperwork. 

Client files must not be left where they can be seen by persons not directly involved in the case. Emergency Relief Officers are responsible for writing in files and their appropriate filing, whether in paper or electronic form.

Disposal of documents containing any client information or sensitive material is by shredding only. 

Disclosure of confidential information by a worker will result in disciplinary action.
